Roche reports boom in cancer drug sales

Roche, the world’s largest cancer drug manufacturer, has reported a 6% rise in sales.

Sales of major brands including Rituxan, Avastin, and Herceptin have exceeded expected demand in Q1 of 2010.

The NHS is due to expand its use of diagnostic equipment that could lead to a jobs boost.

The health secretary, Andy Burnham, announced that the NHS will expand its use of diagnostic equipment, helped by the opening of new GP-led health centres and clinics.

The news could mean many more medical sales jobs being created. The expansion will help towards providing better access to diagnostic testing to help spot early signs of diseases like cancer and heart disease.
